Spring Time is time to get fit!
I am learning the Cross Fit way of getting into shape, Cross Fit San Francisco is the old school callisthenics way of getting into shape and building strength.. You run, lift, row, push lift and then do it all again and again until you are out of breath or go into “enough” mode, but push through go a tiny bit further and then you stop rest and cool down with a few core strength exercises …I did ten reps five times of the ten pound weights over my head using my hips to lift up my arms..I rowed 100 meters in between every each lifting set of five,I also pushed this metal thing across the parking lot
I did push ups. I did plank, I held my own and it was only my second time!
my coach is teaching me to hold my tummy in and my rear in when lifting anything or pushing anything the knees feel fine because all of the weight is in your thighs.
At San Francisco Cross Fit the focus is on how to hold your body correctly so that you’re not injured.
What makes it so much fun is that all of the equipment is stored in two containers, and the work out area is the parking lot behind sports basement. It’s not a gym its a club and to be in the club you pay membership dues. As a club member you get take classes. Everything is outside and the equipment is as basic as a yard with boxes to step or squat on, bars to do chin ups rubber mats to work out on, bar bells and all of the basic “yard” stuff that any basic exercise place has. Cross fit is in many ways what the Navy Seals , Police officers, Fireman use to get into shape ,only this is San Francisco so you are taking your class next to the Golden Gate Bridge as the fog rolls in!..you are outside so no lockers, no showers, no music, no waiting for a machine its you, and a your trainer and basic equipment and its fantastic!!!!!
I am not strong, I am not an athlete, and yet I am safely pushing this football player piece of metal across the parking lot and back, and I am lifting correctly ten pound dumb bells over my head with gusto..I rowed for 500 meters.. My coach says ok now do this as fast as you can..well that does not mean go crazy, it means do it all correctly at a pace that is your best, without injury in the correct form…everyone is 20 to 25 years of age no one is older than 25..everyone everyone is very fit, very fit…very athletic looking women are lifting bar bells and everyone is beyond nice and my coach is very handsome…and he is kind and an excellent teacher.. I have a tiny crush on him despite our vast age difference!
I hate the gym, and I love this, when its time to begin, I get butterflies in my stomach because I want to do the best that I can..cross fiit is really fun.. and everyone can do it…everyone …
Today I had a wardrobe mishap..everyone else is dressed in active wear and they look atlettic….I of course exercised in the coat, I wore to work, my little cap because it was cold and my scarf..If they did not guess that I am middle-aged, a few days ago, on day one,…. they know for sure now, ……who works out in a coat and scarf!….
