In looking at, talking about, reading about, and experiencing Occupy Oakland, I decided that my very first thoughts about the movemnet were formed in haste.
When Occupy New York Popped up my first thought was wow I really wish I could March in New York with everyone else.
Then when Occupy Oakland landed in the Park next to my Home I did not like the tents, or the signs I felt very strongly that they were Occupying the wrong party of the City, they put themselves in a remote part of the Park, they choose a neighborhood that is middle to lower class… to poor.
I told them that I supported them but that camping in the park and on the Plaza is not cool or sanitary.
The night that the police took down the tents in snow park i was relived and also knew I was watching History un fold, so I filmed the dis- mantle and when the Park was returned to Normal, was relived. The backlash was last night while I was at the movies, the Police were throwing tear gas at people and a vet got seriously hurt.
Now I am writing two weeks after the re- Occupation of Snow Park, and on a personal level I wish they would go away, the tents, and sleeping in the park is something I do not understand.
Protesting I do understand…but the camping I do not…However weather you agree with me or not, The Occupy Movement has been in the news every day for two months and that is simply remarkable.. It makes us as people have to have a conversation about what each of us feels about our lives and that is fantastic…so Thank you Occupy Movement..
